The purpose-built library is a fine example of brutalist architecture. Built by Hugh Lea, Borough Architect for Croydon, in 1968 the main volume shows miesian influence with an abundance of natural light, interrupted by a concrete cuboid.

Little Manhattan at South Norwood Library
Help design an art installation reflecting Croydon’s famous skyline! A free family craft workshop, run by local artist Becci Kenning (Art inTransit). Explore Croydon’s Urban history and recreate the iconic buildings found within the community. Age 5+, must be accompanied by an adult.
